CES has helped the University of Massachusetts (UMass) evaluate and pursue onsite and offsite renewable energy opportunities and become a national leader in behind-the-meter energy storage. CES worked with UMass to obtain significant state and utility funding to install behind-the-meter lithium-ion batteries at three campuses in Amherst, Boston, and Dartmouth. CES’ evaluation and solicitation support enabled UMass to evaluate financing and ownership strategies that best met each campus’ financial and operational objectives. CES provided initial feasibility analysis (financial and resiliency), RFP development and administration, contract negotiation support, and continues to provide ongoing performance auditing and advisory for UMass’ onsite battery storage projects.
