CES has rigorous reporting systems to track project performance, providing client stakeholders with accurate and actionable information. CES also interfaces with project developers and owners to ensure that our clients receive the expected value from renewable energy projects.
CES currently provides auditing and reporting services to clients contracted with over 500 MW of operating renewable net metering projects. CES reviews utility bill credits, developer invoices, and confirms expected savings to help clients receive their contractually entitled savings and sustainability benefits. Learn more.
VPPAs have become an effective tool for large-scale voluntary procurement of new renewable energy. Their complex settlement and billing structures, however, lead to a need for detailed review and tracking. CES reviews hourly wholesale electricity prices compared to project PPA prices and generation profiles, auditing monthly statements to confirm that clients are billed correctly, and confirms that the RECs associated with the VPPA contracts are received in the appropriate renewables registry accounts.
Where our customers have installed onsite projects, including solar, cogeneration, and energy storage, CES tracks project performance over time. We calculate bill savings based on avoided energy and demand charges, compare generation against contractual performance guarantees, and confirm that any state incentive or out-of-market value streams are monetized, maximizing our customers’ financial benefits. Where customers retain project RECs, CES assists with confirming the generation is retired and properly accounted for if the RECs are used for GHG emission reduction, or that revenue is maximized if the RECs are sold into state compliance markets.
