January 5th, 2012City of Portland Chooses Competitive Energy Services To Help Control Energy Costs
The City of Portland, Maine has selected Competitive Energy Services, a national energy consulting company, as a contractor to help the City manage its energy costs. After a competitive RFP process, Competitive Energy Services (CES) was chosen from a pool of 17 companies to provide the City with energy procurement services. This agreement will help control costs for all electricity and natural gas services for the City, a major line item in the City’s budget.
“We are excited to be working with the City of Portland and look forward to helping our home community to find the best possible solutions to meet its energy needs” said Jon Sorenson, Managing Partner of Competitive Energy Services. Based in Portland, Maine, Competitive Energy Services works with both public and private sector companies across the country on energy consulting.
“The City of Portland has chosen Competitive Energy Services to help us with our energy supply because of their proven experience with large and complicated entities like ours” said Ian Houseal, the City of Portland’s s Sustainability Coordinator. Competitive Energy Services will be working directly with Mr. Houseal and other City officials to effectively implement the City’s Energy Management Policy which covers all city facilities including: City Hall, the Portland Public Library, Hadlock Field, Fitzpatrick Stadium, the Barron Center and many other City buildings.
