Synopsis of Last Week's Energy Markets

WTI and Brent fell last week. US refineries ramped down operations heading into shoulder-season maintenance, and the Labor Department reported that applications for unemployment rose. Natural gas prices fell every day last week as cooler September forecasts are expected to decrease demand and continue to encourage inventory gains. The October contract fell over 27 cents between Tuesday and Friday for the largest weekly decline since the week ended February 28.
