Synopsis of Last Week's Energy Markets

Crude oil prices leveled off last week, with the prompt month staying just under the $100 per barrel mark. President Obama’s announcement of economic sanctions against Russia for its actions in Crimea boosted WTI crude, as did the EIA storage report.   Natural gas futures fluctuated throughout the week and then reached their lowest point on Friday as meteorologists predicted that a cold snap at the end of March will be followed by more seasonal weather. The storage report contributed to price fluctuation mid-week as stockpiles dipped below 1 trillion cubic feet.
