Synopsis of Last Week's Energy Markets

Crude oil prices fluctuated last week but ended the week slightly down.  The biggest market mover was the EIA storage report. Although crude oil stocks tumbled, refined product stocks surged and demand for crude products waned, having a bearish effect on prices overall. Natural gas jumped last week, with the prompt month seeing gains of more than 2% on Monday and Wednesday. It was the seventh consecutive week of gains, and the continuing factor has been unseasonably cold weather.
