by Meghan Nee and Michelle Tham, Analysts

Synopsis  of  Last  Week's  Energy  Markets

WTI and Brent crude both posted losses last week as domestic and international supply appeared ample, especially given slumping demand in the US and the euro bloc nations. US airstrikes against ISIS forces in Iraq also helped to keep crude prices down. Natural gas prices capped their first weekly decline of August despite increasing three out of five days last week on forecasts for warmer temperatures and the report of a below-estimated inventory gain. Record injections into storage are projected to continue through September as the historical peak of summer heat gives way to fall temperatures.
